Our DBS-checked tutors have experience in delivering gym-based courses within school settings as part off a wider curriculum. As the courses have many elements required for sport and exercise A-level and BTEC programmes, the level 2 fitness instructing and level 3 personal training qualifications are the perfect fit for adding value and context to your course offer. The range and methods of assessment required for these qualifications also lends itself to additional study requirements.

Success Rates;

We pride ourselves on the quality of our delivery. This is highlighted through our current success rates overall, currently at 92%. Based on previous experience of delivering this course as part of a sixth form programme, we would forecast a minimum of a 90% pass rate. Students are able to retake practical and theory assessments multiple times.

Expected Programme Schedule;

The course would consist of 37 hours of delivery. Delivery modes are generally flexible and can be altered based on student and/or school requirements. Below are examples of delivery formats;

• One day every other week over a term, with practical assessments in the final week.
• One evening a week over the course of a term.
• 7 days over a 2-3 week period.

Facility requirements;

The course has theory and gym-based practical elements. These can be completed in a classroom setting, using interactive whiteboards and using local or onsite gym facilities.

Progression routes;

Employment- The level 2 qualification is recognised by the regulatory body of the health and fitness industry, the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), thus providing the necessary qualification to work within the fitness industry. This qualification is recognised throughout the UK, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, United Arab Emirates and Canada.

Education- This qualification enables individuals to progress onto level 3 personal training, various group-based exercise qualifications and specialist qualifications such as GP exercise referral. Although this qualification is not recognised on the UCAS tariff, some universities will accept this as an additional qualification.

Armed forces- the qualification will give a solid knowledge base for those wishing to become a PTI. It will also aid those who join the armed forces with regards to personal fitness and designing personal fitness programmes.

Links to Ofsted Outcomes;

Social development for students- electing to complete this course will show that learners are willing to participate in additional studies. From completing the course, students may be able to aid in the running of the gym facilities in the school, thus promoting physical well-being.

Providing a broad and balanced curriculum- the additional qualification will promote the school’s range of courses to help pupils acquire knowledge, understanding and skills in aspects of their education and physical learning.

Improving the interest of learners- the course will allow learners to consolidate and deepen their knowledge, understanding and skills within the subject area.

Knowledge of healthy living- Pupils will be able to explain accurately and confidently how to keep themselves healthy.

Preparation for the next stage of development- Pupils will be better prepared for the next stage of their development, whether that is education, training or employment through the attainment of an industry-relevant qualification.
